No New Posts Myrica Castle

Occupied and ruled by House Voss for the last six hundred years, Myrica castle is very much their home, constructed out of white marble with natural red veining from a long forgotten mountainside, it glistens eerily like blood dripping over clean cloth in the day, and looms ghostly pale on moonlit nights. It's a sizeable castle, though small in comparison to more modern ones it doesn't lack features, or security - trying to get in here without permission may well end with your head on a pike.

No New Posts Noble District

Full of immaculate mansions, old and new this is home to the nobles that live in Myrica other than those of House Voss and their personal guests. They vary in style according to the tastes of their owners and the period in which they were built.

No New Posts Temple District

Home to the temples devoted to the many different religions that are believed by the people, including temples made for the traders and sailors that come from afar, the temple district is situated on an island just inland of the mouth of the river and is a peaceful and green place.

That doesn't mean it's a safety net, or free of corruption, though. Almost nowhere in this seaside city is.

No New Posts Sailors District

Situated closer to the shoreline, the sailors district is largely made out of small shacks and homes that are rented out for use of the sailors staying in port for a time, however short or long. There are taverns scattered through the streets and consequently many a drunk sailor and it's not uncommon for workers from the brother district to head there as the work can be more plentiful when the boats come in.

No New Posts Brothel District

Located away from the shore is the brothel district, popular with sailors and residents alike it caters to all kinds of folk and tastes much like the rest of the city it has a taste for, well... diversity. It would be a mistake to think that this was only a place looked down upon, though, or that it was nothing but an overly popular extension of the slums. It has it's own sort of grandeur in some places and in others just taverns with plenty of room, or alleys.

No New Posts General Housing

Away from the sea is the general housing area of Myrica, home to the moderately well off commoners with few exceptions, it's tightly packed and generally better off than the slums, though not so far from them in the end. It's also close to the brothel district and the traders district.

No New Posts The Slums

Rarely talked about, but very much present, this is where the lower-class live. The streets are consistently filthy and for every well meaning person there seems to be five that are rotten to the core. Break ins, robberies, rape and murder are far from unheard of and many of the houses are barely worthy of being lived in.

No New Posts Trade District

Filled with weavers, blacksmith's, seamstresses, potters and other crafters, the Traders district is the place to be if you want something made for you or to purchase any of their wares they've already made. Always bustling in the day, it's almost eerily quiet at night the only usual noise that of the odd clank of a hammer, strike of an anvil, whirl of a spinning wheel echoing out a window.

No New Posts Scholars District

Home to the schools, libraries and places of study of all kinds, the Scholars District is a comfortable place to be, with it's finely paved roads and fine buildings. Children from the age of five to thirteen are taught their lessons here, free of charge as a gift from the nobility of the area. Most children, and therefore adults come away with at least the basics of their education though many will merely go on to be farmers or crafters.

No New Posts Market District

On the same side of the river as the castle lays the market district, largely used by people hawking their wares in small stalls rented for the day you can buy food from the farmers, fish from the fishermen and much more. All are almost exclusively from the poorer side of town and only in the market for a couple of days a week, if that and spend the rest of their time on their farms or otherwise getting things to sell.

No New Posts Merchant District

Much more up scale than the market district, the merchants have their own shops, open almost every day for ones browsing pleasure. Butchers, bakers, spice traders, candlestick makers - you name it, they probably have it. It is also where the postal birds for hire are obtained from most of the time.

No New Posts Barracks & Stockade

Home to the city guard and other resident or visiting military, the barracks are often busy, when not working they train only stopping for eating, sleeping and the occasional outing. The stockade is maintained by the guard and hosts those who are awaiting judgement or punishment, and some who have just been locked in there until it is decided they can be released.

No New Posts The Docks

Probably the busiest place in Myrica, the docks is where the ships come to send ashore their passengers and wares and is often a good spot to get pick pocketed by a wandering rogue or pirate.
